If you’ve booked a stay in one of our rental homes or holiday lets, you might be wondering what to do while you’re here. While the peace and quiet of the Bodrhyddan Estate is appealing, there are also many tourist destinations nearby to keep you entertained during your stay.
To give you a little insight into what Clwyd and its surrounding area can offer, here’s the team at Bodrhyddan Hall with some fantastic things to do when visiting North Wales.
Castles
There are many incredible castles dotted around North Wales, some hidden gems and others cornerstones of the area’s landscape and history. No matter which you visit, you’re sure to have an interesting experience learning about the background of this beautiful part of the world.
Rhuddlan Castle is on your doorstep when staying with us at Bodrhyddan – it’s just a half hour’s walk or four minute drive away! King Edward I diverted the River Clwyd so that supplies could reach this impressive inland site and, more than seven centuries later, it still looks like a castle worth moving a river for.
Other must-see castles include Denbigh, Conwy, Caernarfon, and Penrhyn Castle & Gardens. With exhibitions, guided tours and gift shops, these make for a great, family-friendly day out!
Dyserth Waterfall
For a nature fix, look no further than Dyserth Waterfall, which is just 1.5 miles away. Tucked away in this quaint village is a beautiful and relaxing waterfall, with a drop of around 70 feet – it may not be big, but it certainly is impressive.
If you’re in a walking mood, there are steps leading to the top of the waterfall – trust us, the views are worth it – and walking trails, caves, and a nature reserve nearby. For a more relaxing experience – or to recover after your walk – there’s a picnic area onsite and a couple of cafes and pubs just down the road!
